General Summary of Duties:

The primary purpose of the Accounts Receivables Manager position is to execute efficient and cost effective methods in accounts receivable resolution through leadership and personnel management of the follow up collection teams. 

The core responsibilities of this leadership role involve monitoring and managing both the individual and team performance, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met, including revenue analysis, work plans as needed, client communication, assessment and direction of staff.   This position holds additional duties related to trend analysis and performance management of client standards including days in AR, payments collected and denial management. Typically, this position will manage complex teams of 5 or more members.

Typical Physical/Mental Demands:

Requires prolonged sitting and use of computer monitor.  Eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to distinguish letters, symbols, and colors.  

Ability to effectively analyze and draw accurate conclusions is required.   Strong mental acuity required to function in a fast-paced environment with multiple activities occurring simultaneously while maintaining focus and control of workflow.

Must be able to lift 35 pounds.  Occasional travel may be required.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment.  Ability to tolerate varying conditions of noise levels, temperature, illumination, and air quality.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Analyzes A/R days and ensures all reports are worked accordingly within the established guidelines and time frames in maintaining accounts to 120 days or less.
  • Examines reimbursement and denial patterns for assigned AR, recognizes trends, and suggests/implements innovative solutions to reduce unfavorable trends
  • Monitors and analyzes client cash performance to ensure optimal cash returns
  • Trains staff; plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines staff when necessary; addresses staff issues and resolves problems when possible and escalates issues as appropriate
  • Ensure all team members adhere to internal policies and procedures
  • Asses opportunities to improve internal workflows; ensure best method and resources are utilized
  • Reports Claims department activity by meeting on a regular basis with Director to include review of key performance indicators and productivity metrics.
  • Manages client and interdepartmental communication
  • Coaches and assists assigned personnel to maximize productivity and teamwork which includes providing work direction, managing performance, supporting training and development, administering company policies and fostering positive employee relations.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • 7+ years as a manager in a Revenue Cycle management position with an Associate’s degree.
  • 3-5 years in healthcare collections in a hospital-based setting or large physician practice ideal.
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance preferred.
