Business Development Representative

This position is responsible for the sale of the organization's services in a specified region or major geographical area and provides ongoing client relationship support. The Business Development Representative will create and build client relationships and interact with others on department projects and initiatives. This role assists in developing and facilitating the proposal process for specific clients including budget and pricing development, proposal writing, contract negotiations and client presentations. This role reports to the Director of Business Development.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and increases sales revenue to meet assigned targets.
  • Assists with the planning of sales exhibits.
  • Attends trade shows.
  • Participates in education and training conferences on selling and marketing programs.
  • Coordinates and assists in sales meetings to include site selection and agenda preparation.
  • Keeps informed of new products, services and other general information of interest to potential and current clients.
  • Checks on competitive activity and develops new methods of attaining sales.
  • Troubleshoots problems with other teams regarding services provided.
  • Communicates back to internal groups the outcome of the negotiations/proposals focusing on conveying the expectations set forth for each group, i.e. clear details, critical timeframes and expectations.
  • Collaborates with the operations group to evaluate project performance and to recommend refinements and improvements of all components of proposals.
  • Tracks and reports on the status of all proposal components.
  • Establishes and maintains on-going client relationships with the various parties to anticipate and resolve potential problems. Participates in site visits.
  • Financial reporting and analysis to assist clients in meeting goals and identifying obstacles.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

Typical Physical/Mental Demands:

Requires mobility. Requires prolonged sitting. Eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to distinguish letters, symbols, and colors. Ability to push and/or pull office equipment weighing twenty-five to fifty pounds.  Frequent travel is required within the assigned geographic region. Candidate should be resilient and able to excel in high-stress work environment. Multi-tasking and managing multiple projects to meet deadlines will be required. Must be a true self-starter who is internally motivated for success.    

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • At least three years of field sales experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three plus years of sales experience within a healthcare organization.
  • Ability to work in a highly stressful environment and communicate effectively with departmental business managers and staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced training in recent sales techniques.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or comparable CRM platform.
