General Summary of Duties:

Responsible for performing multiple cleaning, repair and maintenance tasks throughout the day, which could include, but is not limited to: general office cleaning, carpentry work; electrical; plumbing; painting; HVAC; flooring; general facility repairs.

Typical Physical/Mental Demands:

Requires mobility. Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for an eight (8) hour work shift. Requires Eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to perform repetitious arm and wrist movements. Overall coordination and good balance are required. Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Ability to learn new tasks and procedures. Ability to distinguish letters, symbols, and colors. Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn, climb stairs and on trucks. Ability to reach and to lift materials weighing up to 70 pounds. Ability to move furniture and equipment. Occasional local travel may be required.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment.  Ability to tolerate varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.

Primary Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Sweeping/mopping floors, cleaning of office break room/kitchens and restrooms, restocking supplies, dusting office furniture, cleaning walls and windows, cleaning AC vents, removing daily refuse.
  • Furniture assembly, moving furniture as needed, hanging blinds, changing locks, running errands as needed, lifting boxes for storage, general light maintenance work.
  • General repairs to doors, chairs, locks, toilets, breakroom and cleaning appliances, furniture, flooring and other general office items.
  • General touch-ups to office including painting and frame placements.
  • Light electrical work to include changing lightbulbs and ballasts, repairing or replacing sockets, repairing workstation wiring.
  • Maintain inventory counts, logs, and make recommendations for products/supplies ordering
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
  • Identify any facility safety hazards and provide recommendations for solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
  • Five or more years of handyman or related experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Technical certifications a plus
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge in many aspects of repair & maintenance work
  • Dependability
  • Verbal communication
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge of cleaning solutions and materials
  • Able to work occasional overtime and other shifts
  • Must be a team player and treat co-workers with respect
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to be flexible, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work occasionally outside of normal business hours (Weekends, after hours on Projects and/or On-Call).
  • A results oriented individual who thrives working in a fast paced environment.
